SSO Successful Logon Detection Match Type

What is the purpose for this configuration item?

Successful Logon Detection Match Type

What internal process does it trigger within the WEBSSO processing? My applications seems to function (perform SSO) just fine with or without this information being configured.

    This is so that APM can detect whether the SSO was successful. If SSO fails a set number of times, websso will disable itself for that session. This is to protect you from locking accounts out when passwords change, or are incorrect.
