Determining support contract expiration

Is there a way to query what the support contract expiration is for a device?

When we update the license on a device I don't see anything in there except a note saying that as of x/y/z there is an active support contract. The service check date doesn't do me a lot of good unless I'm expected to keep updating the license monthly, which is not going to be an easy task.

  • That's kind of the long way to do it. I would need to get and validate the support contract dates on some 800+ devices.

I'm looking more for an API that would be usable, similar to the rather not very well mentioned SOAP WSDL to renew a license.
  • Well, that does pose an interesting issue.

We do have some EMs, however they are on their way out the door and will no longer be used.

Aside from that, the EM requires internet connectivity but doesn't seem to be proxy aware, which poses a separate issue.

  • Hmmm, I'm sure last time I used an EM a proxy could be configured, but that was a while back. I'm also not sure if it actually provides licensing information. If it did, it would be using iQuery or iControl and it's surely something you could replicate without EM if you wanted. Personally, I'd suggest you get in touch with F5 and ask them, with that many devices I'm sure they will do just about anything for you. =]
