Moving from HA config to Stanalone config

My secondary box in a HA configuration was not set up in the best way and has been in a disconnected state for some time. I would like to get them back up and running. My goal would be to turn the active peer into a standalone configuration. I could then reset the previous standby box to it's factory defaults and then add it back once I got everything configured properly. My question would be the procedure from going from HA to Standalone and the impact. Is this possible and if so, will the box need to be rebooted?

  • This is almost like doing a RMA without a UCS Backup. What you would need to do is remove the defective unit from the network and work in a lab as not to disrupt traffic. If this is not possible, you can work in place. If you reset the config to the defaults:

    tmsh load sys config default

and then set the Self IPs for this unit, and if you are using version 11 of the product, go into device manager, under device manager > select the device and then set the config sync, the network fail over and mirroring options

Then reset the device trust Device Management >> Device Trust >> Local Domain >> Reset Device Trust > Generate New Self-Signed Authority

Device Management >> Device Trust >> Peerlist >>

Enter the admin with password >> Retrieve Device information

Add the new device to the device group and then sync from the old unit to the one you are working one....

Should be seamless. Before you start make sure you have a back up of both systems stored off box...Good Luck...
