Partitioning application in BIG IQ

Hi,

I'm working around a problematic which is to use BIG IP partitions with BIG IQ. I find out that's not directly possible because only the admin user create the applications asked by clients from BIG IQ interface. Therefore i manage to move the applications to the partition that i want.

And there is my problem, the application that i created from BIG IQ was initially in the Common partition, now it's in another partition and when i try to delete it from BIG IQ, it's removed only in BIG IQ, not in BIG IP because BIG IQ can't reach it. I have this error in the /var/log/ltm file :

err mcpd[6130]: 01020036:3: The requested application instance (/Common/test.app/test) was not found.

Do i have a way to make BIG IQ look into each BIG IP partitions, not only the common, to locate the application ? Or where can i find the script which is supposed to delete this object ? Maybe i could modify it to do what i expect.

Thanks, Cedric

  • I'm not 100% positive, but I don't believe that BIG-IQ Cloud handles anything other than the /Common partition currently. Also, BIG-IQ is not going to delete things that are moved directly on the BIG-IP.

I think you're right, at least my tests go on your way. But that's the reason why i was looking for another way to delete them in the BIG IP after deletion on the BIG IQ.

It looks like the mcpd have the job to delete the application on the BIG IP considering the logs. So i thought that i could modify it and make it look into each partition. But the thing is that i only found binary file and i'm not pretty sure that this solution is stable and the good one. Maybe this purpose is just not possible for the moment.
