Disaster recovery question...

So for our disaster recovery we use Sungard. They have devices on hand and we restore some of our equipment to their devices at their site. My question is I have a Big Ip 1600 LTM with a ton of stuff on it, at Sungard they have a 6400. I am running 11.2.0 on my 1600 can I dump my restore on their 6400 and have it work? Some stuff I am reading the 6400 might not be able to run anything above 11.1.0. Does that matter? I DO NOT want to do any of the restore by hand.

Any help or experience anyone can give would be great! Thanks Joe

  • I's assume you can restore what you like assuming the licensing and provisioning AND software version is the same, is that the case?

  • this would indicate 11.1 if you have 4gig of ram:

  • OK, so does anyone have a solution for me. I am running 11.2 on my box at home. It has close to 500 URLs, tons of nodes and pools, most of which need to be restored for a disaster recovery test. I have a lot of tmsh scripts that run on mine but even if I get it working with the scrips I don't want to add all that content during a test. I would love to just drop my backup on their system and have it work, but I doubt there is an option for that because mine is 11.2 and theirs tops out at 11.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Joe

  • WOW! I think you might be right. I think that would work. looks like the file is just feeding the info into the tmsh to build the new system? I am quite excited about that. Might be able to get some good snippets of code out of there too. Why didn't I know about this?

    Thanks so much!!! Joe
