vGuest and VLANs

Hi,

 

Sorry if it's dumb question but I had no chance to play with vCMP devices and in all docs I read there is no explicit info about it (maybe it's so obvious).

 

Is that possible to assign VLAN to more than one vGuest or if VLAN is assigned to one vGuest it can't be assigned to another?

 

Another question (seems to be answered, but not sure if I understand it correctly) is related to this SOL.

 

So if I need to create RD other than default on vGuest I have to:

 

  1. Create VLANs on vHost in Common partition and default RD
  2. On vGuest create new RD
  3. Assign VLAN created on vHost to created RD

Am I right? What if I would like to create new partition with new RD? Same steps? Create partition, create RD in new partition, assign VLAN created on vHost to new RD in new partition on vGuest?

    A. A VLAN can be assigned to as many guests as you like.

     

    B. With regards to the RD... 1. Yes 2. Yes 3. Yes

     

    Then... If you want to create a new partition, with a new RD... Yes, that looks sane... Except I wouldn't normally create the RD in the partition...

    The steps you describe are correct. Creating the route domain in the partition will allow you to set it as the partition default route domain, which is typically desired in order to eliminate the need for defining the route domain when creating or referencing objects in that partition.
