Geo Redundance Site(GR Site)

Dear All,

I have couple of sites in Europe. Where both the sites are serving as geo redundancy sites. In this my question is . We have a ltm at each site . with a pool of servers in the server farm . When in one of the pool if the servers above 50% are dead . In that case can we manipulate the ltm in such a way to give the roles of it to the other site LTM.To continue the operations without any break in services. Please help me out in this .

Thanks, Mohammad

    1. You would need BigIP GTM/DNS in order to accomplish what you are seeking.

    2. If you want to accomplish this without using the BigIP - GTM/DNS, you would have to utilize different domain names for the 2 VS in the different locations and probably use a redirect from one LTM to another using an iRule under certain conditions.

    3. You can also explore the option of HA setting across the different regions but this is highly risky as the connectivity between the two locations may not be stable for HA to exist.

    4. Another option is to use LTM-2's pool members within LTM-1 (Public IP of pool member if they are not accessible via private IP) and then send traffic to this LTM-2 pool within LTM-1 when the LTM-1's pool members fail.

    I recommend option 1 followed by 2,3 & 4.
