Sun Java System Application Server

We're trying to follow the directions for Setting Up F5 Networks' BIG-IP System With Sun Java System Application Server shown here; http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/features/articles/configure_big_ip.html

The problem is that the directions are only good for BigIP versions 4.5.x.and 4.6.x, and we're running 9.4.3. Does anyone know of an updated version of this? I've looked thru the Deployment guides, and there is nothing for Sun at all.

I assume what was done in 4.5.x is possible in 9.4.3, I'm just not sure how to go about it.

  • Actually except the SSL termination, the way how to do it is the same including terminology. I am not sure with CLI syntax which may be different, but the principles are the same. SSL termination no longer uses "SSL Proxy", there are "Profiles" which are associated with virtual servers.

The article is very nice - however it is nothing more than a balanced webserver with proxy persistency - I would recommend to look at the F5 website - look for section "Solutions" and find some similar setup - the type of the server is not important - just check for correct persistency type and SSL termination if You need it - a lot of information (including several optimizations introduced in 9.x) is in the document about integration with SAP - http://www.f5.com/pdf/deployment-guides/f5-sap-dg.pdf - just get the LTM part and You have the requested document.
