BigIP i-series - Clearing Alarmlog on LCD not possible

Hi all,

I just found out, that the "Clear All" Button on the Touch-Screen of our i-series LTMs is missing. Following this manual (https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/ddos-hybrid-defender/manuals/product/platform-herculon-iseries/1.html) there should a a blue button top right, but there is not.

Then I searched for another way to clear the alarms and found this article (K11094: Clearing the LCD and the Alarm LED remotely). they talk about a command called "lcdwarn". Interestingly this command on all our i-Series LTMs not available, BUT on the older 2000s/4000s with the identical OS Version 12.1.2 HF2 it is.

How can this be? How am i supposed to clear the alerts?

Thanks for any advice.

Cheers, Ichnafi

  • might be a silly question, but do you have alarms active?

could you post a picture of the screen you see with the button missing?

  • Hi, I'm not allowed to take a camera with me in our Server/Network Rooms. There are no current Alerts, just some old ones due to a Air-condition outage a few days ago and the temp inlet alerts caused by that.

  • First, interesting that you don't have the lcdwarn. I am checking a VE, that definitely don't have LCD, and I have the command available. That is just a Perl script, that seems to call logger. Do you have another iSeries to check that?

In relation to the LCD options. If you don't have that option in your device, the are possible reasons:

    1 - Document is outdated

    2 - Document is wrong

3 - Something disabled in your configuration

4 - Firmware or software problem

Anyway, if you check another iSeries, we may be able to solve lcdwarn part. However, in relation to the second problem, for any of the possibilities, you will need to talk with F5 support.
