SMB over Network Access

We are trying to find a solution to accessing our FileShares over the Network Access Tunnel. We currently utilize mapped drives,we also map our My Documents folder and the desktop back to a filer share. The Filers on the back end use SMB, the issue we have currently is with the latency over the WAN connection (the internet) causing the connection to drop which obviously is not something we can change. This results in users taking up to 15 minute to launch a simple word or excel doc that is only a couple MB in size. We have a case open currently to see if there are settings on the Firepass we are missing, but I wanted to post here as well to see anyone else has had this sort of issue and has any recommendation on what we might implement to solve the issue. Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks

    Historic F5 Account
Hey Mike. I honestly don't know if there's anything to help you in this, but take a look at Click here. This is a review I did about 10 months ago. It doesn't mention F5 at all, but it does focus on WAN Acceleration - CIFS/SMB acceleration to be exact - and problems we had in our testing. There are some "heads up" items in there for WAN SMB connections, maybe not useful at all, but you did say "any suggestion is welcome" :-)

This article will be of more use if you're also suffering long delays without the tunnel, and we did not get to test F5 products with it - the timing of the article was off for F5 to participate. Now F5 offers WANJet in this space, but I never looked at it as a reviewer, the stars just didn't align.
