VCMP guest management access problems

I am having connectivity issues to some vCMP guests I am working on.

The setup is two Viprion 2400 chassis with two B2100 blades in each. Each Viprion is running three vCMP guests using the All Slots scheme. I have cabled each blades management port to a management vlan and have configures a Cluster Management IP for both vCMP hosts and a management IP for each of the 6 guests.

I have no problem accessing the vCMP hosts but I intermittently lost access to the guests.

My intuition tells me this is some kind of arp issue with management traffic moving between the slots on which the guests are allocated. Is there some king of management mac masquerade setting I am missing or something obvious I am doing wrong?

  • Think I managed to get to the bottom of this. The blade in Slot 2 of one of the Viprions was caught in a reboot loop and not playing it's full part in vCMP. I think it was periodically announcing it's own management port MAC address on to the network with the cluster management IP and as a result we were seeing loss of maanagement access 8-S I powered the blade off and magically the problem disappeared.

The plan is to try and rebuild the blade starting with a diskinit and failing that...RMA.
