Monitor application of servers in the pool

Good afternoon.

I need help with the following scenario.

I need the bigip to identify or monitor if the application is not functional on any server that it disables or removes the server from the pool so that new connections do not arrive on it.

Does anyone know if bigip does that?

  • Yes, BIG-IP includes extensive monitoring functions to check application health and prevent connections to pool members that are not serving application content properly. There are many such content check and application check monitors available on BIG-IP LTM. Most such monitors require customization to define what a "normal" response looks like. If this is web traffic, an HTTP-type monitor is simple enough to configure. You tell the monitor what HTTP request to send to the pool member ("Send String") and then what to expect in the response ("Receive String"). If the correct response is not received within a specified timeout period, the pool member is marked down and unavailable for traffic processing. Monitor testing continues and, when the pool member responds successfully again, it is marked up and available for traffic processing.
