Replacing 2000s with I2600 license

Dears,

as we all know that the 2000S will be out EoS soon, we are in the phase of changing it to I2600

i am confussed about the license sent by our vendor as it said Base SSL and Base COmpression and our old one was MAX ssl and MAX compression.

i asked them about that but they were not clear about it - i doubt they know the difference-

can any one explain.

F5-BIG-ASM-I2600BIG-IP i2600 Application Security Manager (16 GB Memory, Base SSL, Base Compression)

F5-BIG-ASM-2000SBIG-IP 2000s Application Security Manager (8 GB Memory, Max SSL, Max Compression)

  • Hi,

There is a difference between a Base license and a Max license, but I have looked at the F5 price list and there is no Max SSL, Max Compression license for the i2600 listed.

There is a Max license for the i2800 and looking at the data sheet of the ixxxx appliances, the Max license is only available if the appliance is doing Hardware Compression. If there is no hardware compression, only Base is listed in the price list. So it looks like F5 is not offering Max license on non-Hardware Compression appliances.

    Another example:

i5600 no Hardware Compression, so only Base license.

i5800 Hardware Compression, so Max license.

Article https://support.f5.com/csp/article/K55590970 shows the i2600 is the replacement of the 2000s.

Maybe you can check compression with:

    show /sys license detail | grep perf_http_compression_Mbps

  • Hi,

Can you run this command (on both equipement, old an new?):

tmsh show sys license detail | grep -i perf_SSL_total_TPS

This command determine the TPS limit set in the bigip.license .

You can check this article (Overview of SSL TPS licensing limits):
