F5 blocking copying of file through a Citrix server

Dilemma : Our F5 is facing the blame for an issue in copying files though Citrix Servers.

Relevant Data: When using non-corporate PC’s to upload a file into the Bentley application via either Citrix (connect.corporate.com) or Big-IP (also connect.corporate.com) Internet Explorer 11 crashes (we need to use IE11 due to activeX plugin the application requires). The issue does not occur if we were to drag and drop the same file from the non-corporate PC to the Citrix desktop and upload it from there.

We’ve tried multiple non-corporate PC’s, turned off AV, tried using the same files, same users, different locations, same versions of IE11 on corporate and non-corporate PC’s. To my knowledge the issue only happens with this one application, but we also do not have any other application that works the same way to compare it to.

Endpoint > F5 >> Through Citrix > Bently app copy fails

Endpoint > F5 > to Citrix >> to Bently app copy works

Endpoint >F5 > through BIGIP > login > Bently app copy fails

Have checked for disableclipboardredirection in the config, not present

F5 rookie, if this is simple please have mercy ;)

TIA Ross

  • Not sure I fully understand the chain of how it's being accessed but something to consider is that there are size limitations to the clipboard redirection in Citrix. Anything over a certain size will require registry edits.

  • i would consider involving F5 support, they can work on this easier with you and investigate captures and such.
