Negativve Health Check for RADIUS

Has anyone tried or already built a negative health check for Radius? I need to create a health check that will get denied but still keeps the service up and running if that is the case.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks

  • Hi Matt,

You would also want to combine a negative health check like the one you've described with a positive check as well. This would help avoid the possibility that the RADIUS server isn't reachable at all and the negative monitor fails and marks the pool member up. I'd suggest at least using ICMP to verify the node address is responding.

  • Hi Aaron,

That is exactly what I am doing. I am using a simple UDP port check for the Radius auth ports - 1812 and 1813 for the positive health check.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
